Winners The One Minutes Jr. Awards 2018 announced!
The winners are:
Wonder Woman by Christella from Madagascar
"Christella manages to leave the spectator speechless and in awe within the 60 seconds she's got. Grim, unnerving, smart and strong, this video feels like a true work of art. It's incredible to witness that all of this is done within one take, no cuts, meaning all of the elements and subtleties which are embedded in the storytelling were very succesfully communicated all at once. There is a true mastermind at work here, someone who knows very well how to bring her message to the audience. The message of the video is strong without ever feeling preachy. We see a true director at work."
Moonlanding by Adil from the Netherlands
"Stop motion is a time consuming progress and also needs a well worked out storyline, meaning that there is put a lot of effort in making the video and it really shows creativity. Compliments for how good this is made."
Rumor net by Cheung Cho Yi Vivien from Hong Kong.
" A very, very strong film"
Special Recognition by Rain Barrel Communications from New York City to My Wish by Reza and Smile by Mohammed. "Both young filmmakers – one from Syria, the other from Iran, now living in the Netherlands – have fled their home countries due to conflict and violence. Despite their worlds being turned upside down, their spirit remains strong. Mohammed calls on us to connect through the simple act of smiling, revealing a precocious understanding of the brain and empathy’s role in making us fully human. Reza picks up the brain surgeon’s scalpel to imagine a future career as a researcher and healer… what he calls the sweetest experience in life, helping other people. What could be more inspiring – teenagers who lost everything, giving us so much in 60 seconds of quality video!"
